This year’s Tribute Luncheon marked the end of a time-honored tradition, the annual Tribute Album.  This was a means by which special women in our lives could be honored. Beginning with the 2009 Tribute Luncheon, the Foundation will annually give out an international award known as the Legends Award. We would love to have you join us in continuing to celebrate extraordinary women around the world!

For the past 10 years, the Women's Foundation for a Greater Memphis has annually honored Memphis women for their achievements, courage, contributions and dedication. Beginning in 2009, the Women's Foundation will expand its vision to honor women not only in Memphis, but on a national and international level.

It is with great pride, that the Women's Foundation introduces the LEGENDS AWARD. It is the Foundation's opportunity to recognize women of significance in the local, national and international realms as being Legendary in their own right for the impact they have made on social justice, community change, families, business and education. The first recipients of the Legends Award will be presented at the 2009 Annual Tribute Luncheon.

The 2009 Legends Award will be a commissioned art piece designed by Mimi and Katie Dann, a mother and daughter collaborative team. The award will be given to each recipient at the 2009 Annual Tribute Luncheon. Also, each recipient will be honored through an artistic living rendition of their work and contributions to society. We are encouraging the nominations of local and national artists who will be commissioned to render the representations of the Legends. All of the creative designs will later become part of a traveling exhibit, The Women's Foundation LEGENDS - Traveling Museum, in which these works of art will be exhibited in various locations for a period of one year.

As we turn the pages of history in the 2008 Commemorative Tribute Album, a time-honored treasure, we are confident that each of our supporters will embrace the Legends Award with the same enthusiasm and appreciation as they have the Tribute Album over the past 10 years. The Women's Foundation looks forward to the nominations of Legends recipients and artists, and welcomes the growth and inspiration this new beginning brings.
