There are two key areas where individuals and organizations can get involved in the work of the Women’s Foundation, and both of them grow directly from our mission. The first revolves around encouraging philanthropy and promoting leadership among women. Toward this end we have numerous volunteer opportunities that are connected in some way to our fund-raising activities – from “behind the scenes” to “making the ask” – and educational offerings. Specific opportunities include:

• Host a reception to tell others about the Women’s Foundation
• Invite a Women’s Foundation representative to make a presentation to a particular organization, agency or corporation
• Volunteer as an expert presenter on a topic of interest to women for a Women’s Foundation event
• Serve on and/or gather a team of volunteer callers for Phonathon
• Sponsor a tribute in the Tribute Album or an ad in the Tribute Luncheon Program and/or identify others who might do so
• Help set up and/or serve as a hostess for the Tribute Luncheon or other special events sponsored by the Women’s Foundation
• Help organize focus groups or other research efforts to gather information about issues of importance to women in the community

The mission of the Women’s Foundation is also to help women and their children reach their full potential. We do so primarily through our grant-making program, which supports programs that empower women to reach and maintain economic self-sufficiency. The Grants Committee is charged with its implementation. Each year an average of 60 dedicated volunteers helps:

• Review applications of interest and proposals
• Conduct site visits
• Recommend which programs should receive funding
• Organize and host the annual Grant Recipients Showcase for the public

The Women’s Foundation also welcomes volunteers as members of its board of directors and standing committees, including:

• Grants and Research Committee
• Development Committee
• Tribute Luncheon Planning Committee
• Marketing & Communications Committee
• Education & Training Committee
